There’s something magical and intimate about authors sharing their life stories, especially when it’s their own voices speaking directly into the listener’s ear. Who else but Sidney Poitier or Julie Andrews or Rick Bragg could narrate their memoirs as effectively, or as meaningfully? Most of us can’t sit down for a cup of coffee with these celebrities, political figures, and writers, but hearing their autobiographies on audio is the next best thing.
