IGNITING THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, 1773-1775

by | Read by Jonathan Davis

History • 11.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2015

Jonathan Davis gives a splendid reading of the events that led to the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Beginning with the Boston Tea Party and ending with the capture of Fort Ticonderoga, Beck describes the actions and thoughts of not only those we now deem as "Patriots" but also of those who would eventually be termed "Tories." What we hear is the beginnings of a civil war. Beck's description of the Battles of Lexington and Concord are the most detailed that this reviewer has ever read. Most listeners will be surprised that these battles involved some five thousand troops from both sides. Davis's baritone voice is paced and inflected to make this production one that will quickly engaged listeners. M.T.F. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2015]
