THE GOLDEN SPIDERS

by | Read by Michael Prichard

Mystery & Suspense • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1953

Rex Stout's famed lazy and overweight sleuth, Nero Wolfe, is brought to life by reader Michael Prichard, whose voice is a nice match. It's a "fat voice," if you will, rich, slow, deep, precise. Since the other character's aren't overweight and lazy, he's not as good with them. He doesn't present a lot of character delineation, even when he's portraying women. But anyone who likes the Nero Wolfe series will like this effort. The story concerns a couple of people who come to Wolfe for help and are then murdered, which is an effrontery from Wolfe's point of view. D.W.
