Six diverse characters are on a quest to find the stars of fortune before an evil goddess finds them. This adventure takes place on the island of Capri and focuses on the romance between Annika, a mermaid, and Sawyer, a traveler. Maarleveld captures Annika’s wonderment and innocence. In contrast, Maarleveld is also able to radiate the evil nature of the villains. Listeners don’t need to have read the first book in the trilogy, but it would add to their enjoyment.
