As serial killers go, Dexter is unique. He’s a forensic expert with the Miami-Dade Police Department. And he’s a sociopath with rules. He only kills really bad guys. This time he’s asked to help find psycho-killer Dr. Danco, who surgically slices off his victims’ projecting body parts, turning them into “yodeling potatoes.” Nick Landrum gets Dexter’s first-person ironic tone just right in both grisly murder scenes and domestic scenes. His diction could be crisper, but his attitude couldn’t be better. In fact, Landrum’s reading makes Dexter so likable, so rational and insightful about his dark “hobby,” that listeners won’t even mind when they find themselves rooting for a serial killer.
