Crossing the divide between childhood and adulthood is difficult, especially when one has the ability to become invisible. Kim Hicks tackles each of the Inchlake Invisibles with panache. With a native British accent, she allows each of the characters to come alive--from Rosie the traveler (not a gypsy!) and Peter Rabbit (yes, that is really his name!) to the local bullies who think they're going crazy seeing pieces of clothing walking all by themselves. As the Invisibles do their best to keep their secret, Hicks reveals their insecurities, voice changes, and vulnerabilities through an artful narration. Hicks's delivery, plus Swindells's use of fairy tale names for characters, adds up to a fun listen. D.L.M. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 06]
