This memoir recounts a daughter’s experience traveling in Italy with her elderly mother, who has physical limitations. Jane Christmas tells of her experience in a way that is both comical and heartwarming. She not only experiences Italian culture but also learns more about her mother. Eileen Barrett lends a similar voice to both Jane and her mother, which reinforces the message that mothers and daughters can be so alike yet so different at the same time. She gives an accurate tone to a mother figure who criticizes and a daughter who can be at times both impatient and understanding.
