DEMOLITION ANGEL

The excitement generated by this author and reader combination is almost as explosive as the plot. The "angel" in this story is Carol Starkey, an L.A. detective and former bomb-squad technician who was pronounced dead and then revived at the scene of an explosion. Starkey, now an alcoholic, and a male ATF agent pursue a serial bomber, Mr. Red, who focuses his efforts on killing bomb-disposal technicians. Paul Hecht is solid as the cop and dynamite as the brilliant but mad Mr. Red. The listener's only complaint with Hecht is his too-long pauses between some chapters--often the pause is so long the listener thinks the tape is over.
