PERFECT ONCE REMOVED When Baseball Meant All the World to Me

by | Read by Richard Davidson

Biography & Memoir • 5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

Richard Davidson's warm narration, full of the right inflection at the right time, crafts this coming-of-age memoir. The author grows up loving baseball but isn't great at playing it. He learns at a young age that his cousin is Don Larsen, the Yankees hurler who remains the only person to this day to throw a perfect game in the World Series. Davidson's narration comes across based on emotion rather than imitations, and clearly brings the author's memories to life. It's a great tale that never gets wrapped up in the intricacies of the game but, rather, illuminates the author's passion for the sport and his relationship with a famous cousin.
