BLACK SOULS

Three friends, thick as thieves, grow up in a life of crime as narrator Edoardo Ballerini keeps step with their exploits. Their criminal enterprise evolves from growing up in the mountains of southern Italy through their matriculation to petty and then serious crimes and finally to organized crime. Much of the audiobook is first-person narrative with limited dialogue, but Ballerini manages to give distinctive personalities to everyone involved. Assorted Italian characters weave in and out of the story, their voices ranging from calm to frantic. It's an interesting tale enhanced by an emotional narration, which includes diverse voices for everyone involved.
