A new collection of essays on the treatment of women throughout history and the connections of those belief systems to capitalism and patriarchy is not well served by this audio edition. Narrator J. Lee Craig's cadence doesn't always fit the meanings of the sentences and distracts from the text. Furthermore, while the content of these essays provides insight into systemic misogyny, the author tends to cite her own previous work, rather than referring to original sources. Some listeners may disagree with her conflation of witch hunts, the Holocaust, and Indigenous genocide, as well. Overall, this is a disappointing addition to the feminist audio list.
