The rich tone and pure British diction of Nicholas Boulton are put to fine use in this revisionist history of the mutiny on HMS BOUNTY. Boulton has a masterful ability to let this fascinating re-creation of events unfold. He tells the engrossing stories of the mutineers who are tried and convicted as if he were standing onstage enlightening an audience. He adroitly adapts to every accent. His performance highlights how this often romanticized story made Captain Bligh into a monster and Fletcher Christian a Byronic hero, interpretations that the record doesn't reveal or corroborate. The myth-busting source for the audiobook was a highly praised work published in 2003, and it has lost none of its original power. This is a long and satisfying listen.
