While we regularly note that the SYNC program’s opportunities for teens to access summertime listening—and personal collection building—involves AudioFile Magazine’s support, that of OverDrive, and the contributions of numerous audiobook publishers, there is another group of essential partners to be recognized. You! All the library staff, teachers, youth group facilitators, and others who make sure to get out the word about SYNC at the local level are essential to the program’s successful delivery.
To support your local efforts, we have released this year’s Toolkit of posters, updated the Frequently Asked Questions to guide those new to the program, and added back QR coding so that program information can be collected from a safe social distance even at the local level.
We have also created a Pinterest board featuring authorized photos of most of the narrators and authors of the 32 free audiobooks for the season. Feel free to use these to increase visual interest in designing your local publicity of SYNC. Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and share your local publicity with others in the SYNC community through social media, too.
To provide additional support for those new to SYNC, Sora, or helping others to access this annual program, we have scheduled an hour-long webinar, hosted by OverDrive, to review the how-tos and answer questions about both the program and listening’s role in literacy development. The free webinar, via Zoom, will be Tuesday, April 26, from 2 to 3 pm Eastern Time. After the webinar, we will be sure to place the archived recording in our site, and OverDrive will include it in its Staff Training site, which is freely accessible to all. Please share information about this training opportunity with teachers, staff, or others you think might appreciate the technology overview.
With less than a month to go before the 2022 SYNC season launches, we appreciate all you do to help make this experience available and appealing to local teens, wherever you are in the world.
