CHANGING PLACES

During an Anglo-American academic exchange, the previously parallel lives of two professors begin to intersect with hilarious effect. Events are presented in a detailed and balanced style, which creates an atmosphere of inevitability. Shelley is an ideal choice for the novel's omniscient narrator. His reading is clear, authoritative, well-paced and attentive to the author's style and purpose. The perfect presentation is upset only in the area of accent. Shelley's accomplished presentation of English characters contrasts markedly with an inconsistent and self-conscious American accent, which often lapses into distracting parody.
