If listening to an espionage novel with fast-paced action, globe- hopping settings, and explicit sex is what you're after, the new translations of the Malko Linge novels should provide plenty of enjoyment. French author de Villiers's internationally popular series features Austrian aristocrat Linge, a spy who freelances for the CIA to finance his lifestyle. Nicholas Guy Smith's British accent brings a continental flair to his substantial narration as Linge strives to expose an undercover Russian spy ring known as the Swallows, which is infiltrating the United States. Smith shifts between a multitude of accents with ease, uses only a slight shift in timbre for gender changes, and sets a pace well suited to the quick-moving storyline set against a backdrop of current geopolitical tensions.
