A DOG LIKE JACK

A tender tale about adopting an "elderly" dog ("Jack is 8, which is 56 in dog years."), growing up with him, and coping with his eventual death, JACK comes as both a picture book and an accompanying recording featuring a realistically young voice serving as the first-person narrator. There's upbeat music (by Chris Kuble) to help express the action as Jack goes from giving baby Mike "horsie rides" to running on the beach with Mike and, finally, to barely being able to get up off his bed.
