Narrator Lorna Raver narrates this memoir with such believable tones of nostalgia and love that listeners may believe this is Jean Kennedy Smith herself reading. One of the youngest in the notable Kennedy clan, she describes scenes and squabbles from her early life--playing games, reading, sailing, learning, and getting the most out of their days. Smith certainly had a front-row seat on many historical moments, but Raver's performance reminds listeners that Smith's famous family members were beloved parents, spouses, brothers, sisters, and children, and that their untimely deaths still cause Smith pain. However, the production, like Smith herself, focuses on moving forward, and these enjoyable reminiscences will appeal to a wide swath of listeners.
