This timely audiobook exists in the longstanding tradition of election postmortems that stretches back to Theodore H. White's classic MAKING OF THE PRESIDENT 1960. Narrator Kimberly Farr's measured yet intense performance of this "it-was-worse-than-you-think" tell-all propels the story forward. Her pace is well suited to the marathon of the campaign and current presidential politics overall. The best thing about her delivery is that it never falls into the trap of turning this revealing piece of journalism into melodrama. The authors were allowed almost unlimited access to the candidate and her staff, and, while the plot's ending may lack surprise, the intricacies and intrigues are recounted warts and all.
