Narrator Eevin Hartsough's cheery, youthful tones enhance the humor and warmth in Elliott's story. Moreover, her precise phrasing and relaxed pace work to evoke the imagery of Melissa Sweet's illustrations. Baabwaa and Wooliam are two sheep who make friends with a wolf, teaching him to read and helping him curb his bad-boy image--as it's depicted in tales like "The Three Little Pigs" and "Little Red Riding Hood." This brief but enjoyable listen works well on its own or as a companion to the picture book. It's a good match for families and children who like unexpected endings and funny, cozy narratives.
