Sexy Bodhi Booker is renovating his mother's house, which is next door to Bridgette Dalton's. Narrator John Lane provides Bodhi with a deep, husky voice. Bridgette soon falls for Bodhi, but he has a dangerous job and doesn't want to get into a serious relationship. Bridgette has a young son, and Lane is able to contrast the older voice of Bodhi with the lighter, more youthful voice of Bridgette's son. Lane has the listener feeling the passion between Bridgette and Bodhi as well as the anguish they feel over their belief that they can't stay together.
