Listeners will enjoy Mary Beth Light's playful narration depicting two unusual sisters, Rebecca and Flora Haws. The story starts in Chicago in the late 1800s and ends up in the Sinai Desert. It's based on two real-life women who traveled to Mt. Sinai in search of an important biblical manuscript. Austin's novel is made even more captivating through Light's astute, nuanced narration. Caught in a sandstorm, the characters reminisce about past adventures, hopes, and how they came to be in the desert. Light's delivery keeps pace with the changing tone of the story.
