What a perfect name for an audiobook! But no, this isn't a tale of audiobook addicts. It's the story of a young black baggage handler with the gift of hearing people's thoughts who gets caught up in two con artists' get-rich-quick kidnapping scheme during the Great Depression. Marc Vietor's narration is spare, echoing the desperate times in which this novel's characters find themselves. He skillfully brings to life diverse characters such as the the male and female con artist and the two children they kidnap, also making clear who's good and who's bad and why they're that way.
