Narrator Karen Cass uses her gentle, expressive voice to take listeners on a tour of academia in Cambridge, hunting with hounds in Suffolk, and chasing down drug smugglers. The wit and humor inherited by the author from her great-great-aunt, Jane Austen, make it easy for Cass to convey the clever behavior and intense family loyalty of Prudence Pinsent. In addition, Cass makes believable the sudden transformation of Dr. Temple as he turns from an unkempt absentminded professor into a dapper man deeply in love.
