LITTLE BIG LOVE

The narrating team of Isabelle Blake-Thomas, Katharine McEwan, and Nicholas Guy Smith gives a lovely and memorable interpretation of 10- year-old Zac; his mom, Juliet; and his granddad, Mick, who live in the small British town of Grimsby. The fractured family begins to unravel when Juliette drunkenly confesses she still loves Liam, Zac’s missing dad. As Zac, Blake-Thomas employs a cheerful and innocent tone while recounting events and powering up his determination to meet Liam and learn about his past. McEwan lays bare Juliet’s pain and sadness at her stilted life but never underplays her devotion to Zac. Smith exposes Mick as a man who is reluctantly facing the consequences of his actions.
