Candace Thaxton delivers a pleasing narration of this feminist novel. Lucy navigates the latter years of her adolescence amid the bohemian lifestyle of New York in 1993. She pines for her friend Percy, an heir to a socially elite family. As Lucy works to keep her attraction to Percy in check, she begins to notice the differences in the way women and men are treated--in life and in art. Thaxton will charm listeners looking for a strong, sarcastic female lead who explores independent thought. Her delivery encompasses the journey of a teen who discovers the mistreatment of women but finds the motivation to rise above stereotypes and become her own person without apologies.
