FAULT LINES A History of the United States Since 1974

by | Read by Fajer Al-Kaisi

History • 14.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2019

Listeners over 50 will enjoy this review of the major political and cultural changes that have occurred during their lifetime--from the resignation of Nixon to the improbable ascendance of Trump. Narrator Fajer Al-Kaisi is a capable guide who moves the audiobook along at a brisk and confident pace. He plays it straight except for a mischievous imitation of Ronald Reagan, and the small number of mispronunciations is forgivable. This is a comprehensive and entertaining look at the country's recent history, though it's mostly a recounting of events. The ostensibly unifying thread--that these events helped shape the polarized, partisan nation we have today--is not quite fully developed.
