Narrator Angela Lin captures the tribulations and regrets of Wang Di. As a Singaporean teenager, Wang Di was forced into serving as a comfort woman, a sexual slave, for Japanese troops during WWII. Lin's evocative voice stirs up sympathy for this strong woman, and the real-life women she is based on, as Wang DI recollects the horrors she survived. Narrator Ryun Yu is the perfect complement as 12-year-old Kevin, who nurses his aging grandmother. Listeners experience two very different lives as the pair trade portions of the story back and forth.
