Those who enjoy listening to descriptions of European travels-- complete with details on places to stay, exotic foods, and meeting new people--may enjoy this audiobook tour of the sites of Europe's great epics. It's more a travelogue than a developed literary or historical analysis, and the narrative's excessive first-person focus makes it a thin and disappointing handling of an interesting topic. Nonetheless, spirited narrator Luke Thompson infuses Jubber's stylized depictions of Ithaca, the German Rhineland, and other legendary sites with an elegance and engagement they might not achieve on the page or from a less committed voice.
