Saskia Maarleveld, Graham Halstead, and Euan Morton narrate this domestic thriller featuring Tim, a robotics specialist who builds a perfect replica of his perfect wife, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances five years earlier. Maarleveld performs the majority of the audiobook, taking on the parts told from Abbie's perspective, clearly signaling the empathetic, intelligent companion bot's transformation as she begins to think beyond her programed memories, piecing together the fate of the real Abbie and then fearing for her own and her autistic son's futures. Halstead and Morton deliver the sections told from other points of view, conveying appropriate reactions to Abbie's story, ranging from support for Tim's creation to distrust of his motives.
