Based on the myth of the Minotaur, the audiobook begins with backstory that is extremely bizarre because the events took place on a television show called "The Labyrinth Contest." Now teen Ariadne must lead 14 other teenagers into a maze to kill or be killed. When a boy asks for her help, things get even more complicated. Dolan breezes through as if it's all perfectly normal, adding verisimilitude to the author's careful world- building. Dolan fully fleshes out Ariande and ensures that her motives are clear.
