Bibliophile Darcy Wells lives in the pages of her books in order to avoid an embarrassing reality--her mom is a compulsive shopper and, worse, a hoarder. Darcy wrestles with forced adulthood while trying to maintain a normal teenage life in this sweet coming-of-age story. Pressley narrates with precision and clarity, creating memorable voices for Marisol, Darcy's half-Cuban half-Mexican best friend; Asher, her love interest; and a variety of other interesting characters. Her relaxed pacing accentuates the slow-burning love story. Touching on topics of self-discovery, mental health, and friendship, the story, its well-fleshed out characters, and sweet moments are enhanced by Pressley's polished and melodious narration.
