Shakespearean actor Nigel Gore puts all his skills on display as he narrates this poetic work of historical fiction. The story, which focuses on Captain John Smith's time in America, is not so much a novel as it is an epic work of literature. The writing is dense and multilayered as it mimics the writing of Smith's time and place. This might be an obstruction to a print reader, but the beautiful language pours off Gore's tongue in such a way that audiobook listeners have a distinct advantage. Before listening to this installment, listeners should acquaint themselves with the first two books in this series, also narrated by Gore.
