This Timber Creek K-9 mystery has Mattie Cobb and her trusty dog, Robo, on the scent of a killer after two bodies are found. Also in this installment, Mattie's relationship with a veterinarian evolves. Narrator Nancy Wu shapes the story by differentiating characters with varying tones that mirror the emotions of the moment. Her delivery is calm when Mattie is with her beau, frantic and almost breathless when she is hunting a wild animal, and inquisitive when suspects are being questioned. Wu's narration enhances the story, keeping the listener interested. Although this is part of a series, there's enough background on Mattie's past for new listeners to follow the story.
