Author/narrator W. Lee Warren beautifully conveys this audiobook about science and religion--not science versus religion. His spiritual thoughts are inspired by his practice as a brain surgeon who treats one of the most deadly cancers--glioblastoma. Warren sounds like a superb teacher as he explains complex concepts through his treatment of several patients from their first visit, through surgery, and afterward. Graphic descriptions aren't for the fainthearted but are always fascinating and understandable. The religious slant, which presents Warren's unique perspective, won't put off nonbelievers. Most touching is the mysterious and violent death of his 19-year-old son, which greatly challenged his faith. Those going through similar circumstances will feel less alone and comforted by Warren's deep compassion and clear explanations of what is taking place.
