Karissa Vacker narrates a wickedly fun thriller about three estranged siblings who re-create a cross-country road trip they took with their grandfather 20 years earlier. Not only are Beth, Eddie, and Portia Morgan forced to drive across the U.S. together, but their grandfather's will has a specific itinerary they must follow or they risk losing their inheritance. The presence of Beth's husband and Eddie's wife only makes things more tense--not to mention that early on someone runs them off the road and then starts tracking them. The story is primarily conveyed by Beth, and Vacker's narration is well attuned to the character's darkly droll personality and slippery perspective. Listeners who like thrillers with a morbid sense of humor and dysfunctional families will find a lot to enjoy here. A.T.N. © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2020]
