Pauline Constantine's affecting narration captures complex emotions as three older women gather at the home of a friend who has recently passed away. Constantine's voices for each are spot-on, revealing Jude's tough demeanor, Adele's difficulty accepting life as a former starlet, and Wendy's vulnerability, especially concerning her elderly dog. The voice of each woman is easily discernible as she reflects on her life and slowly comes to terms with secrets uncovered. Constantine fluidly conveys the changing emotions: Bitterness and anger become tenderness and hope as the women navigate grief and their relationships with one another.
