Narrators Brittany Goodwin and James David West capture the excitement of summer camp for both young campers and the junior counselors who watch over them. Chapters move back and forth in time, shifting between the viewpoints of Alissa Claude and Marcus Kahale. Listeners will join in the fun and the grumbling about food--except for the s'mores--until 8-year-old Bree goes missing. Oddly, the adults are unconcerned. Goodwin's Alissa expresses confidence and compassion when she realizes she's going to have to do something about Bree's disappearance. West's Marcus cleverly goes undercover and learns that the camp is in financial difficulty. Both narrators capture the campers' innocence, the teens' resourcefulness, and the adults' questionable behavior. The appealing setting and conclusion make for a worthwhile listening experience.
