WANDERER OF THE WASTELAND

Michael Kramer has a rough edge to his voice that evokes the Western setting of this Zane Grey audiobook. There's a romantic quality to his narration that gives the descriptive passages of the landscape more power than they have in print. Zane Grey follows Adam, a tenderfoot from the East, as he becomes a fugitive and, gradually, a fabled wanderer. Though Adam becomes tougher in many ways, loneliness haunts his encounters. Listeners can hear his joy at the natural world of Death Valley and later his weariness upon seeing a desert oasis that turns out to be a mirage.
