THE LAST DAY OF PARADISE

by | Read by Zoe Mylonas

Fiction • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

Fifteen-year-old Sunday is a Greek teenager whose definition of family is shattered by the revelation that her Baba may or may not be her actual father. Zoe Mylonas narrates this quirky novel in a strident tone suitable for Sunday's irreverent and cynical perspective, but her voice seems too mature to recount a coming-of-age tale. Mylonas lends a striking accent to Sunday's mother as she provides advice, along with her own life story. Mylonas's Greek characterization is especially strong in her portrayal of Yiayia, Sunday's irascible grandmother, who is hell-bent on teaching Sunday the harsher facts of life. This is an intense, sometimes funny, audiobook chock-full of raw language and sexuality, and Mylonas delivers it with a sardonic punch.
