HEATHER AND HOMICIDE The Highland Bookshop Mystery, Book 4

by | Read by Lucy Paterson

Mystery & Suspense • 8.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2020

Narrator Lucy Paterson introduces Inversgail, Scotland, its charming bookshop-cafe, and its owners--two mother-daughter teams, Americans Janet and Tallie Marsh and Scots Christine and Summer Robertson. Listeners will revel in gorgeous scenery, books, and scones, meeting the townsfolk and joining a spirited search for an elusive murderer. Paterson deftly presents the constantly shifting accents, along with plausibly rendering the younger and older women. After Heather Kilbride, a visitor researching a local murder, is killed, Janet bicycles around the town's environs in search of clues for the team. Paterson's best creation is Christine; her on-target remarks are comical, her bossy attitude toward Constable Norman Hobbs is entertaining, and her care of her aging parents is endearing. Learning about antique miniature books is an added bonus. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2021, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2021]
