Professor Kehinde Andrews of Birmingham (England) University narrates his work in an assured voice that is fitting for an audiobook intended to provide a new context for examining systemic racism. Andrews provides clear background on the destructive workings of colonialism and white supremacy. He targets the myths of white philosophers historically held in high regard within the Academy though their writings support genocide and slavery. For example, Andrews is unsparing in his critique of popular liberal causes such as Marxism. He frames today's so-called "hashtag causes" as the purview of the white left. Andrews makes clear there's no quick fix to systemic racism--real change takes time and effort. His narration and engaging narrative make an excellent starting point for confronting these issues.
