I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ME A Memoir

Diversity advocate and communications professional Precious Brady-Davis narrates her memoir of growing up a biracial, gender-nonconforming youth and trans woman in Nebraska and Chicago. Her tone is thoughtful as she reflects on the disruptive and fraught path leading away from her birth mother's home to that of the grandparents who adopted her and her siblings. Around this time, evangelical Christianity dominated her life, conflicting with her burgeoning sense of self. Brady-Davis soon found her voice while performing in theatrical and choral productions, and in working alongside LGBTQ+ activists. The author's emotional voice illuminates deeply imprinted experiences that drive her motivation for helping others.
