ME AND THE ROBBERSONS Me and the Robbersons, Book 1

Narrator Emmanuelle Mattana zestfully introduces a bandit family aptly named Robberson as they kidnap 10-year-old Maisie on her way to her grandmother's house. Listeners experience a rollicking time as the family and their trainee, Maisie, cross Finland, stealing what they need--particularly sweets. Maisie comes to enjoy the family, which is quite unlike her own. Mattana's best creations are the dad, Wild Karl, who's bossy yet kindhearted, and adorable 10-year-old Charlie, who desperately wants to attend school. Mouthwatering food, such as crispbread piled with meatballs and mustard, and colorful scenes of the magnificent outdoors are appealingly described. The high drama of the robberies and the chaos of the Bandits' Summer Shindig are balanced by the smile that's usually present in Mattana's voice.
