Mark Glancy, film historian at London's Queen Mary University, may well have provided the definitive in-depth biography of Archie Leach, who became the film star Cary Grant. Daniel Henning's superb narration adds much to the winning volume. Showing obvious grace and high style, the entertaining narration suits the subject. With great emphasis on the actor's impoverished early years, this is the first work generated using Grant's own personal archives. The long-debated issue of the actor's possible bisexuality is explored at many turns but ultimately dismissed as simply not relevant to the story of a genius who rose from English slums to Beverly Hills.
