THE SANDMAN: ACT II

Anchored by Neil Gaiman’s hypnotic storyteller’s voice, the second act of THE SANDMAN bewitches. As Morpheus, Lord of Dreams, James McAvoy sounds both imperious and weary, otherworldly and very human. The star-filled cast of actors and lush production guide listeners back and forth in time and in and out of fantastic worlds. The interconnected episodes are always compelling, sometimes humorous, often gruesome and unsettling. In “Season of Mists,” Morpheus must decide on the fate of Hell, encountering everyone from Lucifer (Michael Sheen) to Loki (David Tennant). Later episodes play on the idea of stories and storytelling. Sound effects and original music make for a completely immersive experience. Even listeners who aren’t familiar with the graphic novel on which this adaptation is based will find themselves enthralled by this dreamworld.
