Narrator Ryan Jordan McCarthy keeps listeners guessing in this fresh take on a police drama. Disgraced DC homicide cop Thomas Levine has been reassigned to small-town Cooper, Nebraska. There, he encounters rampant corruption and dirty cops while investigating a gruesome murder. McCarthy portrays Levine in a brooding, deep voice, enhancing the bleak, dark tone of the story. His energetic narration moves the short chapters of the story along swiftly. However, listeners may find the story confusing at times as it switches between the past and present frequently without clear markers.
