DALVI Six Years in the Arctic Tundra

Laura Galloway embarks on a journey, with cats in tow, from New York City to a Sámi village in northern Norway. During the six years she lives in Kautokeino, she finds herself contemplating her purpose, her traumatic past, and life's missteps. Narrator Laurel Lefkow evokes a full spectrum of emotions--feelings of isolation from not knowing the language, loss from a breakup, traumatic rage at a manipulative stepmother, and an increasing sense of serenity evoked by the landscape. Lefkow's rich, beautiful voice subtly strengthens as Galloway finds her rhythm and purpose. Lefkow never hesitates in her delivery of the multiple Scandinavian and Sámi names and concepts.
