Author/narrator Rodrigo García offers insight into the final years of his parents, Colombian Nobel Prize-winning writer Gabriel García Marquez and his wife of almost 60 years, Mercedes. García reflects on his family's past and reveals humorous and touching anecdotes of their private lives. A majority of the audiobook focuses on his father's death and how his feisty mother dealt with the loss. García's reflections are moving. His voice remains steady and clear, imparting the respect and awe for them that grew after his parents had passed. García acknowledges that writing this memoir was intimidating. He hesitated, not wanting to be compared to his legendary father. Listeners will be glad that he overcame his hesitation and wrote this beautiful tribute to his parents.
