DRONE CHILD A Novel of War, Family, and Survival

Dion Graham narrates a fictionalized memoir of a technologically savvy young man in the Congo. The year is 2025, and Lemba is a gifted teen with a penchant for tinkering and repairing anything computerized or electronic. An army of "Purifiers" sweeps across the land, forcing children to murder their parents before drafting them into the army proper. Lemba and his twin sister flee, but during the escape he is captured and forced to pilot drones for the Purifiers. Graham imbues the prose with a Congolese accent and a sparkling rhythm that suits the fast-moving narrative.
