Narrating a contemporary romance with many characters, Andrew Eiden makes sure each person is recognizable in dialogue. Woodland Park, Colorado, has an excellent emergency response team. Paramedic Anderson Kelly smoothly handles car crashes and fires, but he can't handle his continued attraction to single mother Chelsea Davis. As Eiden chronicles their cautious moves toward each other, Anderson is given a thoughtful tone and a gravelly timbre, and Chelsea has a midrange pitch with a lighter tone. Simultaneously, Eiden introduces listeners to Camille and General Frank Robards, an opposites-attract-couple who meet at Chelsea's senior center. Frank's voice is deeper than Anderson's, while Camille sounds the appropriate age, as does Chelsea's lively son, Jack. Listeners will enjoy this clean romance and Eiden's character-driven narration, peppered with dramatic rescues. C.A. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2023]
